What Color to Paint My Office?

Best Office Paint Color
A lot of books have been written about how the color of an office affects productivity. This is a result of years of research. Studies have confirmed that yellow colors affect your emotions, blue colors affect the mind, red colors affect the body and green effects balance. So by combining these colors, you can influence behavior. See more on paint color effects here.

Don’t be mistaken, this isn’t some feng shui concept. It is scientifically proven that the four primary colors (blue, red, yellow and green) affect us psychologically. The mind reacts to blue, red charges the body, yellow affects the ego, emotions and self-confidence and green provides balance between the mind, the body and the emotions. What’s more interesting is that a when you combine two or more colors, you get the effects of both of them. A knowledgeable painting company can advise on some color combinations.

Blue
A quick search on Google of the words “the most productive color” will reveal that blue is the most productive color. However, this is an oversimplification. To stimulate your mind, admittedly, blue would be the best color choice. For an accountant, blue would make you more productive. It is recommended that if you do a lot of mind work in the office, then you should go with blue spiced up with some orange to add some emotion into your mind-stimulating office so you don’t end up working like a robot.
Yellow
For designers or artists who require a lot of creativity, blue isn’t going to give you the creativity to create wondrous work, but yellow would be just fine because it makes you more optimistic and lifts your spirit.
Red
Doing physical or active work and want to keep going, but still want to be focused about it, then red is the way to go as it would make you more productive than either yellow or blue. A lot can be done with red paint color schemes.

Which office color should you go with?
In order to get an idea of the most suitable color for your Jacksonville, FL office, first narrow down which color or combination of colors will best suit the nature of your work and then choose a specific hue of that color. Also, consider whether you want the best office paint color to stimulate or soothe you by choosing either highly-saturated or lowly-saturated hue.

Important aspects to consider when choosing your office paint colors
  1. Colors and music operate in the same way – there are no wrong notes. There are also no wrong colors. It all depends on how you use them and their intensity.
  2. Decide on what you want the colors to affect. Is it mind, body, emotions or balance?
  3. Like musical notes, colors do not exist in isolation. They are utilized most efficiently when surrounded by other colors. A color or musical note is not really striking until it’s combined with other colors or notes. In most cases, the response you get will depend on how well or poorly you combine the color or the notes.

These are a few ideas you can ponder on to increase productivity in the workplace. Combining the right colors can help boost the morale and camaraderie of workers and ultimately escalate sales. Low-wavelength colors,  such as relaxing green and soothing blue -- two of the most frequently occurring colors in Mother Nature's palette -- improve working efficiency and focus. They also lend an overall sense of well-being. Bottom line: If you want happier, more effective workers, green and blue are wise choices.
